The final season has begun and it’s giving us so much season one feels, hope, despair and happiness, all wrapped up.

******Spoilers Below*******

We have a new enemy this season and it’s a siren. I’ve seen this done on Charmed and Supernatural but let’s see what The Vampire Diaries has in store for us.

I knew that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) was going to be fighting this new evil but it’s great that the way he’s fighting it is to send messages to Bonnie (Kat Graham). When we were first introduced to Benzo, I wasn’t really a fan. I grew to like them and now I love them. Whenever a love is strong enough through a great evil like this, it’s a great love. Bonnie’s hope was gone. She didn’t think Enzo could be saved but now she has hope. Enzo can be saved.

I thought that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) was beyond saving, not that that would mean he was truly beyond saving, but it would be more difficult. I thought that Stefan (Paul Wesley) would be the one to save him. Julie Plec is always saying that this is a show about brothers and how far they will go to save each other. Her statement may have been proven wrong just in this episode. The strand of humanity Damon has left is Elena. That’s what is keeping him holding on. Unfortunately, we don’t have Elena (Nina Dobrev) to just appear and save the day. So, maybe it will be Stefan using that Elena connection to save Damon and it will be Stefan to save him. Still, with the way Julie describes the show, you would think that it would be the brother connection that will save him. We’ll have to wait and see who can save Damon, but from this episode, it seems like it’s Elena that is the key to bringing him back.

I want Damon to be saved, but I really am enjoying this bad Damon. He’s worse than he’s ever been before. He’s even worse than Klaus at times. This siren has really twisted him and he’s taken bad to a whole new level and I’m loving it. Let him have his fun for a little, then we can save him.

We had a classic Damon with the car at the beginning. A throwback to the pilot, but this time he had a partner playing the game, Enzo. So that upped the ante on the whole game. Then they took the victims back to the slaughterhouse and killed them even worse than Damon would have in the past. As I was saying, at times Damon was worse than Klaus.

It’s so nice to have Caroline (Candice King) back and kicking ass. She may not have gotten actual information, but this new enemy has to be serious if someone is willing to bite off their tongue not to say anything. That should say a lot to what we have to look forward to, and be scared for, this season.

Going back to Benzo for a second, I loved those flashbacks. Bonnie has saved Jeremy so many time, so it must be killing her that she couldn’t save Enzo until she realized she can. It was breaking my heart watching the memories but those memories helped Bonnie realize what message Enzo was sending her. Not just to save him, but to tell her who the enemy was. It is always easier to defeat the enemy when you know who they are.

Klaus was a lot scarier before we met him. Once we met him, well we just fell in love with him.

Steroline had a great start to this final season. I’m still hoping that Caroline and Stefan will end up together in the end. I’m sure Julie is going to make it difficult for these two, but for now, they are happy and moving forward in their relationship. Everything else is pretty dark in this season so far, but we have them to be our ray of light.

Who do you think is the key to saving Damon, Stefan or Elena? How are you feeling about the final season so far? Let me know in the comments below.
