The CW dropped the first Black Lightning trailer now that it has been added to The CW’s superhero roster line which looks pretty amazing. CW chief Mark Pedowitz revealed to reporters on Thursday morning ahead of the network’s upfront presentation that Black Lightning does not take place in the Arrowverse — the same shared universe that the other four series call home. Couple that with the fact that Black Lightning films in Atlanta, while the rest of the shows film in Vancouver, and it’s basically a logistical nightmare. It is also slated to debut in midseason, not in the fall. Which I find a bittersweet situation.
Black Lightning will star Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, and, according to it’s trailer, will also center around his daughters, Anissa played by Nafessa Williams, and Jennifer played by China Anne McClain, who in DC Comics were the young heroines Thunder and Lightning. The Pierce family will be the next super hero family of the CW.
Let us know what you think of the first trailer along with any other thoughts on CW’s Black Lightning.
