Good news for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. ABC announced Thursday (Oct. 10) that it will get a 22-episode order.

Several websites announced the show got a “back-nine” order in addition to the original 13-episode order. It attracted more than 12 million viewers in its premiere more than two weeks ago. This week’s episode, “The Asset,” got about 7.86 million viewers, but it was the #2 show for Tuesday in the 18-49 demo, bested only by The Voice. The additional episodes also means more opportunities to know the crew, and add more potential villains.

It’s not only great news for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, but also for Marvel’s movie division. It’s likely the show can be used to promote next month’s Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier next spring. If the S.H.I.E.L.D. characters become more popular, maybe they’ll find themselves in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.
