While Marvel plans a big event to plug its upcoming movies Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther at San Diego Comic-Con, it will also have several panels on new and returning shows…or almost all of them.
The biggest day will be on July 20th in Ballroom 20, where panels for Legion and Inhumans will be held, back to back. Legion, shown on FX, has been a big hit thanks to performances from Dan Stevens as powerful and dangerous mutant David Haller and Aubrey Plaza as Lenny/Shadow King, a dangerous entity that has possessed David. They’ll review the past season and drop hints about season two.
Inhumans, which just dropped its first trailer this week, will feature the cast and clips from the show, which will air Friday nights after a special IMAX preview September 1st thru 15th.
On Friday the 21st, Fox will have a panel on The Gifted featuring Amy Acker and Stephen Moyer at Ballroom 20. It’s about a family on the run from the government because the kids are mutants, but they get help from other mutants.
Later that day at Hall H, Netflix will have a panel for the Defenders, coming August 18th. It will feature Charlie Cox (Daredevil) , Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist). No word on whether Sigourney Weaver will also be there, but it’s possible.
There will also be a panel on Marvel Animation and the premiere of a new Spider-Man show for Disney XD.
Notice anyone missing?
That’s right. Marvel will apparently not have a panel for Agents of SHIELD, which start its fifth season after Inhumans finishes its run.
After four years of being a popular panel, leaving out SHIELD is a terrible idea. It should get support for this show as it moves to Fridays on ABC. It’s still very popular with MCU fans. This could change, of course, but leaving out SHIELD just looks bad. Besides, fans should know why all of the agents are stuck in outer space at the end of last season.
At least Clark Gregg had some humorous tweets that were listed on TV Line. He sort of blamed it on how sexy Iain de Caestecker (Fitz) and Henry Simmons (Mack) are. He does say SHIELD will be part of New York Comic-Con in October.
