After what felt like one of the longest hiatuses between seasons, Teen Wolf’s return was pretty amazing (especially on its second or third viewing).

***** SPOILER’S BELOW *****

It was really enjoyable to catch back up with Scott’s pack. I have missed Scott and Stiles. It was great to feel almost as if I was part of Stiles/Scott post-graduation master-plan, where Stiles’ vision is to keep everyone together. I thought the way that each member of the pack was brought back served the episode very well. From Scott and Kira’s kiss, to Liam interrupting Stiles and Malia to warn them that Scott was in trouble. The episode continued to solidify the togetherness of Scott’s pack… with the exception of Lydia.

Lydia’s first scene confused me, at first. She was locked up, she looked like the walking dead, nearly comatose. Finally, when she does wake up, she uses active powers that we have never seen her use. It isn’t till the end of the episode that we find out her story is out of sync with the rest of the episode. She is giving us a glimpse that there is a new big bad in town. That she and her friends are in for the fight of their lives and, maybe, not everyone survives.

The contradiction of the two stories told me we are gearing up for one hell of a ride this season for everyone, including the Beacon Hills Sheriff’s office. I hope whatever was going on between Sheriff Stilinski and Deputy Parrish gets worked out. Here he has a supernatural being who can’t die on his squad and Stilinski sidelines him. It doesn’t make sense to me and I wasn’t a big fan of how Parrish was being treated. Yes, I get that Stile’s Dad doesn’t know what Parrish is, but the deputy has proven that he can be trusted.

TW S5 1 TheoSpeaking of trusting someone, how many of you trust Theo? He’s an omega werewolf, which means he isn’t part a pack. He shows up when Scott is being attacked by something we know is connected to whatever new bads are in Beacon Hills. He claims to be an old friend of Scott’s from grade school and wants to join his pack. I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust him. And the creature Scott fought tonight… At first, I thought he could be something to worry about, but in the end, he failed to beat Scott. So far, there are no worries about who the alpha is on this show. Teen Wolf continues to satisfy the balance of the supernatural, and all the relationships intertwined. Also, everyone, don’t forget that even though the premiere started this evening, the second part of the premiere is tomorrow night. Check back tomorrow night for that review.
