Reno hosted its first Wizard World convention recently, attracting thousands of people to the Convention Center. Among the featured guests was Eliza Dushku, best known as Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Echo from Dollhouse. (See the video below.)

These days, she’s taking a new role..as a college student. As she has said in previous interviews, she had planned to head to college, then Buffy came along. “I’m a 33 year old freshman, and that’s crazy,” she says. “I have a term paper due on Tuesday, 15 page research paper.” She has help from a tutor to get through her school schedule.

She’s also putting the final touches on a documentary about the land of her heritage, Albania. This project was funded through Kickstarter, and it’s taken a lot longer than she expected. “I have a house mortgage along with my own money involved in that project, and it’s going to be so rewarding when it’s finally released,” she said. “It’s really challenging, especially with Albania. We were dealing with an entire country, and their government and their ministry and clearances.” She says it will be a fine film, and should be on PBS sometime in the next six months.

She also answered several questions about working on Buffy, Dollhouse and Tru Calling, along with Bring It On and True Lies. Since it was also the weekend before Thanksgiving, she also asked some people what they were thankful for, and got interesting comments. She did tell a young fan that it’s tough to say which role was her favorite. “It’s hard to pick, because each thing was like a different special time in my life,” she said. “It would be like trying to pick my favorite year.” She did admit being Faith was a big highlight in her career.

Another fan thanked her for getting his son away from cartoons, thanks to an Angel episode.
