It’s not unusual for a man to be persuaded by a pretty face. In the case of an Asgardian enchantress named Lorelei, she has the pretty face, fine voice and a persuasive touch that has caused chaos all over the universe. That’s a combination the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may not be able to conquer. Fortunately, they’ll get help from a warrior named Lady Sif.

Jaimie Alexander, who’s featured in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, is the third person from the movie franchises to appear on the show (Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill are the other ones). However, Sif plays a more active role in this episode as she looks for Lorelei, who escaped from her prison during the battle with the Dark Elves from the second Thor movie. She also got rid of a necklace that kept her silent for 600 years.

After discarding the new groom she acquired last week like a used tissue (literally, because she is also strong), she sets her sights on a motorcycle group called the Sons of… oops… Dogs of Hell, run by a guy named Rooster (Dylan Bruno). She wants to raise an army, and cause more havoc.

Meanwhile, Skye is recovering from being shot thanks to the mysterious drug GH325. Simmons tells her to stay in bed, although she wonders why Coulson won’t let her send a sample of Skye’s blood to S.H.I.E.L.D. to see if they can recreate the drug. Since it came from a blue alien, that seems unlikely. S.H.I.E.L.D. is also aware Mike Peterson is Deathlok, which Skye can’t understand, but Ward has no compassion over what Peterson has done.

Coulson is sitting in Lola, staring into space until Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernandez) parks next to him. That makes him the fourth character from the movies to arrive (and that includes the “Item 47” short).  He tells Coulson he doesn’t know where Fury is, but did ask how was Tahiti. Coulson said, “It sucked.” He is a different man after this.

He returns in time to welcome Sif to S.H.I.E.L.D. May seems worried abut what Coulson is keeping from her, and assures him she’s there if he wants to talk. Sif is surprised to see Coulson alive, but he says he’ll tell Thor he’s OK. She says that Lorelei can be stopped with a necklace that can silence her. Coulson also asks if she knows of any blue aliens and she has, including Kree and Frost Giants. She also tells “son of Coul” that none of them have invaded Earth recently. That narrows it down.

Meanwhile, Lorelei isn’t impressed with what her minions have given her at a biker bar, especially paper with “ugly women” on them. They’re also known as 100 dollar bills. When SHIELD arrives, they meet the cops, who are also under her control. They’re also firing their guns. Sif gives the agents cover by shoving a Streamliner trailer about 50 feet. She confronts Lorelei, but she’s not worried. She has bested Sif before, including taking who she loved. We don’t know who, but it’s not Thor. After the motorcycle gang is vanquished, Lorelei weaves her spell on Ward, and they head off to Las Vegas.

Simmons and Coulson clash again over GH325, but he insists again not to involve SHIELD in this. She understands following orders, but as a scientist, telling S.H.I.E.L.D. about the drug will help a lot of people. It’s apparent he feels remorse that he and Garrett had to kill two people to get the drug in order to save Skye. He wants to get some answers from Fury about why GH325 had to be secret. This doesn’t just affect Skye, but also himself.

It’s discovered the Necklace of Silence was damaged by a bullet in the fight, but Fitz says he can fix it. May and Sif discuss Ward and why Lorelei targeted him. She prefers to get the strongest warrior around, especially if he’s “already taken.” Sif senses May has feelings for Ward, and that means it may get deadly. May says she won’t let Ward kill her.

When the agents get to Vegas, Lorelei and Ward are gone. They actually took control of the Bus, and Fitz, too (although he did fix the necklace). Sif is trapped in a holding cell, then is sucked out when Ward removes the ceiling. Coulson, though, is OK. Simmons barely finds that out in time, while Coulson knocks Fitz out.

Then May experiences what Sif did: seeing Lorelei take away Agent Ward personally while she taunts May. Maybe Lorelei can control women after all. However, she can’t control Sif’s grip strength. She did hang on the Bus, with the necklace in her hand. This leads to two impressive fight scenes (Sif vs. Lorelei and Ward vs. May). Sif overcomes her, but Lorelei taunts Sif for being obedient. She even hints that maybe Sif is upset Thor doesn’t love her, but prefers a certain scientist. We’re not sure if that’s true, but Sif winds up getting the last word. May, meanwhile, proves that Ward couldn’t kill her… if she takes his bullets first. She also hits him anyway.

Sif leaves, and shows that she is a loyal soldier because Odin said Lorelei should be brought back alive. “Much like your SHIELD,” she says, “we are bound by our code.” That makes sense, unless she knew what really happened at the end of Thor: The Dark World.

Agent May tells Coulson to admit what he saw at that hidden facility, or at least tell Skye. He does tell Skye GH325 came from an alien source, and she takes the news pretty well. Maybe too much. “We are completely in the dark about this,” he says. “That’s where we live,” she responds. She still doesn’t know why she’s an 0-8-4, or if that helped her absorb the drug. That won’t cut it for Coulson. “We have a long list of questions we need answers for, and we’re going after them ourselves,” he says. And it’s best only he and Skye look for them.

While the story this week was mostly about stopping a fugitive sorceress, we also saw some fallout from last week, and some discussion about when we have to follow orders without question, and when we have to rebel against the rules and who enforces them. That’s why Coulson made that decision, but he and Skye aren’t the only ones who know…

No wonder May wanted Coulson to reveal what he saw, whether to her or Skye. She had a bug in Skye’s room, just in case. But who is she talking to? It might be Fury, but it’s likely it’s Dr. Streiten, who went off-grid last week. May did this because there is a code in S.H.I.E.L.D, and that is to follow orders for the greater good. However, what if she’s wrong? Sif might get the same feeling eventually (again because of how Thor: The Dark World ended).

Does this mean S.H.I.E.L.D. will have to confine Coulson, and declare him an 0-8-4, too? If so, that may have to be delayed, especially if the Clairvoyant sends Deathlok on a mission.

That might happen in the next new episode, possibly around April first. Next week will feature a special on Marvel movies, including previews of Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and even a scene or two from Avengers: Age of Ultron.
