Last night, my new favorite episode of The Crazy Ones aired. In this new episode, titled “She’s So European,” Simon and Zach end up hooking up with the same woman, Helena (Saffron Burrows), one of their clients who owns dating sites for people of various ages. She’s working with Lewis, Roberts + Roberts to create a new senior dating site. At the same time, Simon gives Andrew the job of running a voice over session for another campaign. In that campaign, Fred Melamed (guesting as himself) is a difficult to work with voice actor who refuses to listen to Andrew.

What I really loved about this episode was the interaction of the guest stars with the main cast. Helena was a breath of fresh air, and I loved her interactions with the the other characters. I really hope she comes back in the future to mess with Simon, Zach, and Sydney once again. Fred was also great, and I hope his interactions with Andrew will have long-lasting effects for everyone else. It would be great to see Andrew start to become more alpha in the way that Simon and Zach are. However, in the midst of everything, I found Lauren to be the really fun character of the episode. Her lines were great, and the way she described Zach and what he was like previously in bed had me in hysterics. (The takes from that scene in the blooper reel are even funnier.) That scene was made better when Andrew asked to borrow a cyanide pill, and Lauren said she might have one.

Another moment I really loved was when Sydney and Helena were chatting about hanging out again soon, and Sydney said “it’s a date” but then felt the need to backtrack so that it was a “lady date, not a real date.” (It had been started previously by Zach and Sydney fighting over Helena and who was hanging out with her next.) That offer of hanging out leads into Sydney coming over to visit Helena, only to discover that she has a paramour over, and that paramour is her dad Simon. If ever there was a moment to appreciate awkward faces, that was it. It also reminded me of that uncomfortable moment when I walked in on something I should never have seen, then had to be driven to school while being lectured on the birds and the bees. (I hope that never happens again.)

I also really enjoyed seeing Simon and Zach break out their best southern accents. Hearing the two go on and on as though they were women from the era of plantations in the deep south had me simultaneously laughing and jealous that I can’t pull off an accent to save my life.

If you haven’t seen this episode of The Crazy Ones, or you want to see it again, be sure to check it out here. In the mean time, sound off in the comments. What was your favorite part of the episode? Do you want to see Helena and Fred reappear in future episodes?
