Last night, I was granted the honor of attending the recording of Krypton Radio’s The Event Horizon at The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, where the topic was Lantern City. What is Lantern City, you ask? According to its creators, Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5, Tron) and Trevor Crafts (Smokewood), it’s going to be the show that makes steampunk a household term.

The show is going to be a sci-fi drama whose main characters will be pushed to the limits in answering the show’s two main questions: how far would you go to be with the person you love, and what lengths would you go to in order to survive? But the exciting thing about the project is the creators’ desire to involve fans in the creative process, so to speak. They want people, especially those from the steampunk community, to make things to be featured on the show.

Right now they’re still shopping for a network to pick them up, but until then they’ve been attracting talents such as John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones), Raphael Sbarge (Once Upon a Time), and Mira Furlan (Babylon 5, Lost). I don’t know about you, but if they get some eye-candy the likes of Wes Brown (Deception) or Colin O’Donoghue (Once Upon a Time), I’ll be totally sold. I mean, just imagine a hot guy like that running around in this world:

Personally, I’m excited to see if Lantern City can crowd-source its way onto television and I’ll definitely be following the progress of the project. You can too, as well as submit steampunk creations and artwork, at the project’s website LanternCityTV.com.

You can also listen to the interview with Boxleitner and Crafts on Krypton Radio’s The Event Horizon on Saturday (Mar. 30) at 9pmPDT, and Sunday (Mar. 31) at 4pmPDT.
