Episode Review: Dollhouse 2×05: "The Public Eye"

Daniel Perrin is too good to be true.

He’s got good looks, a distinguished pedigree, a beautiful wife, and dreams of a better future.

Now he’s going to take on a major corporation, who he says is guilty of unspeakable things that include human trafficking, prostitution, or maybe murder.

Daniel Perrin…a new hope for America.

He’s just too good to be true, because he is….in the worst way you can imagine.

Welcome back, Dollhouse. After a five week break, it starts its final run with an intriguing two-hour story.

Episode Review: Supernatural 5×10, "Abandon All Hope"

Supernatural’s last couple of episodes have been on the lighter side, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, after watching the mid-season finale of the show, one can easily see that the powers that be were softening us up for what is undoubtedly one of the darkest and most depressing episodes of the series, written by none other than the sick, twisted genius that is Ben Edlund. Read on to find out what I thought about this episode in more detail…

Singing the Praises of Serenity

One thing you can say about Joss Whedon shows is that they inspire a lot of music. This is especially true of Firefly and Serenity. The Big Damn Heroes have been immortalized in song by several musicians, from the Bedlam Bards to Marian Call. The latest group to add to the Browncoats Hit Parade is a band out of St. Louis called The Browncoats. Three of its members, and a crew member, visited the Serenity Salute recently in Los Angeles.

Dr Who: 10th Doctor’s Finale: BBCAmerica is Finally Listening to Me

I’m very proud that, although it took two years for the folks at BBCAmerica to implement what I told them during the Comic Con 2007/Torchwood Panel ("If we all have the same "friend" in England, and we have the technology in our homes to see the episode the day after it screens in England, don’t *you* have the technology to do the same?")  BBCAmerica has taken my advice and will be screening Dr Who: The End of Time one (yes, just one!) day after it airs in England.

Movie Review: I Want to Take My Next Vacation on "Planet 51"

I’m a very jaded viewer of animation. I want quality artwork and a well written script that doesn’t talk down to children and at the same time their parents find amusing. Think Animaniacs or Rocky and Bullwinkle (whose creator & head writer Jay Ward would turn in scripts to the network censors too late for any changes to be made). Don’t try to overwhelm me with special effects to cover a bad script (Polar Express), give me a quality script and well crafted artwork. Give me something cute and imaginative like Planet 51.

This is going to be a spoiler-free review.
