Jim Beaver Interview – Exclusive

We all know (and love) Jim Beaver, Bobby Singer from Supernatural. We know he is funny and friendly and prolific on the net. (FaceBook. MySpace.) What most people don’t know is that he has experienced great personal heartbreak. First, he and his wife, Cecily, discovered that their young daughter was autistic. Then, just weeks later, Cecily was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, even though she didn’t smoke. Within a few short months, Jim was a widower and a single father. During his wife’s illness, and for several months after her death, Jim wrote nightly emails to update friends and family. These emails have been put together in to a memoir, Life’s That Way.

He recently took a few moments to speak with Whedonopolis over the phone.

NYCC 2009 Joss Whedon Tahmoh Penikett Round Table Interview

It was with much anticipation I approached the final day of New York Comic Con 2009.  Not only because this was the day that covered almost all of the television shows that I follow, but primarily because this was the day that Joss Whedon would be there to discuss his newest project, DOLLHOUSE.  Oh, and it didn’t hurt that one of the coolest (and hottest) actors from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and the aforementioned DOLLHOUSE, Tahmoh Penikett, would also be attending.  I was really curious to hear what Mr. Whedon had to say about his newest production, since there had been so many conflicting stories about how the show was developing.  I was hoping for some in depth discussion of the arc of the series and the issues that would be tackled in the storylines.  I wanted to know what Joss Whedon, someone who is known for his strong, proactive female characters, was going to do with a story about women (and men) who have their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas – personas that are hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected to become whomever the client wants or needs them to be.

Well, Mr. Whedon did not disappoint.  At the round table interviews, he dove right in and discussed all of the above and more with the usual Joss anecdotes and humor – and funny voices to boot.

NYCC 2009: Chuck Versus The Comic Con

It’s not unusual to find Yvonne Strahovski flanked by two handsome guys, but on Sunday (day 3 of the New York Comic Con), instead of Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin, she was being escorted by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, executive producers of the NBC series, CHUCK.  And much like Chuck, Sarah & Casey, they make a pretty entertaining team.  At a press conference on the third day of NYCC they all talked about what inspires some of the plot and character details in one of the best ensemble shows on television.
