"Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 9" #2 Review: Cue Magic Slayer Boy!

Buffy: Season 9 #2 is a near perfect example of what a Buffy comic should be. Andrew Chambliss delivers a script that hits all the right notes (humor, horror, surprises, and the character-y stuff we Whedon fans love so much), and Georges Jeanty keeps pace with his writer, providing some of the best pencils he’s done on the series! This team is smokin’ hot and showing no signs of losing heat!

"Angel & Faith" #2 Review: Christos Gage Officially Rules! #1

The redemptive vampire and formerly dark slayer are back with the release this week of Angel & Faith #2 written by Christos Gage and with art by Rebekah Issacs. If readers enjoyed anything about the premiere issue of Angel & Faith, then they’ll love this one! Issacs’ artwork is just as strong and immersive as the last issue, and Gage delivers a script that will leave Whedon fans begging for Dark Horse and Joss Whedon to chain the scribe to his work desk and throw away the key!

Angel & Faith #1 Review: The Vampire With a Soul Comes Home

Let me start off by saying the title above is not a slight against IDW. They provided a home for Angel in the comic world when no one else would. Much like UPN, they should be remembered by fans as a savior to the series in a time of need, and both proved themselves worthy wards of the characters and stories we love. That being said, all Buffy and Angel characters are under the same roof (shared universe achieved!), and, if Angel & Faith #1 by Christos Gage and Rebekah Issacs is an example of where we’re heading, then I am one happy comic book sniffer!

Angel #32 Review: The Willingham Conundrum

Bill Willingham reminds me of George Lucas. Willingham, like Lucas, obviously knows how to craft a dramatic and epic story arc, but he seems to falter in the writing of simple character moments and interactions. Much like the Star Wars prequels, I find myself torn when reading Willingham’s arc. On one hand, he’s putting ‘Angel’ and the gang into some really interesting situations and pushing the story forward with great zeal. One the other hand, when the characters we know and love open their mouths and speak, I shudder the ‘bad fan fic dialogue’ shudder. Ugh.
