Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who we here at Six Degrees of Geek knew best for her role as “Dawn” in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 39. She was also known for her roles in movies from her early years like Harriet the Spy and her roles after “Buffy” in Six Feet Under, Mercy, Weeds, and Gossip Girl.

Trachtenberg was found dead early this morning in her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle. She was found by her mother according to reports from ABC News.

Ms. Trachtenberg, reportedly recently underwent a liver transplant but it is not clear if there were complications from that surgery. An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
