Guest Writer Devlin Wilder
Boldness is power, strength is courageous. The mark of any truly courageous person is to acknowledge those who give them courage. Even the strongest of us all must get help from fellow humans.
A number of the most powerful women in cinema assembled this past weekend for the Action Icon Awards to celebrate stuntwomen and those dedicated to taking the big leaps so the stars stay safe.
Presented by Diamond in the Raw, the event was hosted by Tanika Ray and honored stunt women and their super-heroic counterparts including awards including Action Iconic Jaimie Alexander (Thor: The Dark World, Blindspot), Action Icon Ming-na Wen (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Pink Diamond Activist Areva Martin, Esq., Helen Gibson Honoree Eliza Coleman, Special Achievement Congresswoman Karen Bass, Dare2BDifferent Cynthia Rothrock, and Diamond in the Raw Joy ‘SJ’ Harris.
Correspondent Devlin Wilder was on hand for his podcast Friend or Faux to speak with some of the honorees. Jaime Alexander, who plays the mighty Sif in the Marvel cinematic universe, spoke that her characters Sif and Jane on Blindspot would be nothing without the incredible work of her stunt double Heidi Schnappauf. Bonnie Somerville of Code Black on CBS commended the fantastic work her stunt team performs every episode. Ming-Na of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is elated to be a part of the ABC and Marvel team enabling her to kickass and have a blast doing it. Listen to the audio interviews in an upcoming episode of Friend or Faux on Jabberjaw Media.
