After last week’s Arrow/Constantine crossover, tonight’s episode, “Lost Souls,” left me, at best, “whelmed.” After several episodes devoted to bringing back Sara Lance, this episode brings back another hero to Star City and Team Arrow.

*** SPOILER ALERT ***

Arrow 4.6 Tiny Ray DarhkAfter several episodes, we know that Ray Palmer is very much alive.  Instead of being dead, he was saved from last season’s explosions because his ATOM suit combined with the nanotech and shrunk him down.  Ray has been calling out to Felicity for months, but instead Darhk received the transmissions and captured him.

Tonight also gave some answers on two of our powerful heroines, as well as the 411 on Ray.  This entire season, Felicity has been off with using and creating tech.  Instead she has been relying on Curtis Stone’s brilliance to almost be the male version of Felicity.  Tonight she told her mother that she was afraid of losing herself while being with Oliver.  That she allowed her life to be altered six months ago, leaving nearly everything behind her and travel with the man she loves.  I can’t help but Arrow 4.6 Felcity Ollie Curtisbelieve that the relationship, the new career being CEO of Palmer Tech, and the loss of Ray has made her off her game.  I hope after this week we will be seeing more and more of the heroine we know and love while she continues to grow into her own.

We had wondered if Constantine’s spell removed Sara’s blood lust when he restored her soul, and that was quickly answered during the first fight she had against the ghost.  She lost control, not only in the first fight, but both fights in the episode, Arrow 4.6 Canary2 1giving into the blood lust and requiring Laurel to stopping her, unfortunately after Sara had killed a ghost.  Obviously, Sara is back, but it looks like her side effects may be around a while longer.

As for the rescue of Ray Palmer, it seemed almost too easy.   It is great to have Ray back and awesome to have Curtis doing field work with Team Arrow, but it didn’t feel like a sweeps episode.  Also, I don’t know how many more times the team can use Lance to spy on Darhk without him starting to ask questions.  They are building Darhk up to be this uber big bad, so there isn’t any way Team Arrow can use the same strategy too many times.

Now what seemed to be the secondary story of Oliver and Felicity having their first fight seemed more entertaining than the finding of their lost hero, especially when Felicity’s mom visits her and Oliver.  The most entertaining part of the argument was watching the role reversal.

All Rights Reserved.Oliver was downright mellow and trying to be super supportive to Felicity while she was extremely stressed and distant, blaming herself in not noticing Ray’s call for help earlier.  It was remarkable watching Olicity couple through their challenge. Also, I don’t know who else noticed that the tattoo Constantine gave Oliver last week in the flash back was currently on him.  I look forward in seeing how the writers are going to explain that one. It also looks like Felicity’s mom may be staying around for a little while and starting something with Quentin Lance, of all people.  It will be interesting to see where this leads. Who knows, she may be the one who is buried at the grave site we saw Oliver and Barry at. Only time will tell.  We only have two weeks before the Flash/Arrow crossover episode, “Legends of Yesterday,” which will be a lead in to Legends of Tomorrow and I can’t wait.

Remember Arrow is on Wednesday nights at 8 pm/ 7 central and Flash is on Tuesday nights at 8 pm/ 7 central.
