Uh…Darynda’s version, of course! 😉 I don’t know if it would count as a grim reaper myth but I’ve always loved Anubis from Egyptian Mythology.
I can’t help but to think of the one that death followsnyou around waiting fornthe right moment to cause an accident.
I can’t say that I have a favorite myth. However I would like to know why the scythe is the weapon of choice for the reaper! I mean really, Cut off everyone’s heads!!!! I love what Darynda has done with her version of the reaper!
Of course its Charlie Davidson! 😀 Love Darynda’s books. I love hooking friends on them too!
Mine is the Grim from the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy (what I have kids) here is a cut and paste synopsis of the show to give you an idea The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy follows two children named Mandy and Billy, who after winning a limbo game to save Billy’s ten-year-old pet hamster, gain the mighty Grim Reaper as their best friend in eternal servitude and slavery forever and ever.
I’ve always been drawn to the old native american beliefs about “grim reapers”. The Shoshone tribes believe in a “blood moon”. The saying goes that should you witness a blood moon in the evening, someone close to you have died.
I really don’t have a favorite myth – I just like the use of a scythe as a symbol of reaping a crop.
I don’t have a favorite myth. Always thought of the Grim Reaper as a dark angel.
My favorite is that people pass through them to the “other side” !
I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to wait til the 27th to read this. Love this series! What a great story and wonderful author!! 🙂
favorite myth? Well, Favorite thing about Darynda’s version of the grim reaper- she’s light instead of dark. Makes me feel better about the whole concept 😉
“Don’t fear the reaper, until he gets you to the other side.” Ok, that’s a song, not a myth. I don’t know any myths, really, so I base all my reaper knowledge on Charlie Davidson. It makes things easier. And funnier.
I don’t know if this is considered a myth or not, but according to Darynda’s books the grim reaper doesn’t walk around in black robes carrying a scythe. Instead, she’s well dressed and uses snark and sarcasm as a weapon 🙂 I like Darynda’s version better!! Thank you for the giveaway!
The cloak is a fashion statement.
that the grim reaper is male 😉
