First, it has to be confirmed….

Her fellow Black Widow, Yelena Belova pays her respects. So does someone else.
The Countess (aka Evil Veep/Elaine Benes), who was first seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier hiring US Agent for whatever she’s got planned.

Fans find out Yelena has apparently been working for the Countess (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) for a while, and has a new assignment. She has to kill the man who caused Natasha’s death…soft of.

There’s more to this story, but the Countess wants Yelena to finish the job before she finds out more.

This twist has upset a lot of fans when Black Widow had its first weekend. However, this is only the start of the story.
The question is what’s next.
Yes, it’s disappointing she went from one assassination group to another, but maybe she never got the chance to consider another line of work. She clearly hasn’t talked to any of the Avengers

It’s also a sign Yelena will likely show up in Hawkeye later this year on Disney Plus. It’s possible she’ll start firing shots before the finds out exactly what happened in Endgame…and that Hawkeye wanted to give up his life for the Soul Stone. Would he let Yelena kill him, which might shock her into reconsidering?
If not that, expect budding super-archer Kate Bishop to square off against Yelena, and who knows who else.
Of course, this will upset the Countess, especially her belief that she’s better than Nick Fury. Why would she want to create a morally-challenged version of the Avengers, or Neo-Hydra or some such thing?

On the TV side, it looks like Phase 4 will be a post-Blip world where it’s hard to guess who are the good guys, and if there are any left now that Steve Rogers is gone. Of course there are, and hopefully they will emerge and make it clear. It’s got to include Yelena, either as an Avenger or a revived SHIELD. Her style and wit make it necessary to make her a hero.

For now, fans will just have to get to know some new heroes before some familiar faces return
