K.J. Apa wasn’t kidding when he said we wouldn’t have to wait long to find out Archie’s fate. While we all may have been shocked, it was a true Archie moment.

I don’t know about you, but I was brought to tears when Archie (K.J. Apa) stood up and said he would take the deal.

His mother said it right during her closing argument: “we know that Archie constantly puts the needs of other’s before his.” That’s exactly what Archie was doing when he plead guilty. He didn’t want to put his loved ones through that again. What Archie doesn’t get, is Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty ( Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) would do anything for him. They would walk through fire to protect him.

I felt very Oliver vibes with the way Archie was handling everything. He was making sure everything in his life was taken care of before the inevitable happened.

I may hate that Archie is going to Juvenile detention for two years, but the consequences have stared some interesting storylines. We assumed that Hiram (Mark Consuelos) was taking his revenge on Archie, but he was really taking his revenge on his own daughter. I thought he was as an evil man before, but now we truly see the depths of his cruelty. If he could do this to his own daughter, what is he capable of?

This unbelievable situation has brought together an alliance I would have never seen coming. Fred (Luke Perry), FP (Skeet Ulrich) and Sheriff Keller (Martin Cummins) have teamed up to prove Hiram framed Archie. I’m looking forward to seeing these three come together to prove Archie’s innocence.

It wasn’t all heartbreak in this episode. We got some great Bughead, Choni and Varchie moments. We also got a great Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) entrance.

I like seeing Bughead working as a team, and it’s clear Betty and Jughead are stronger than ever. Cheryl and Toni (Vanessa Morgan) clearly

had a great summer, and she’s opening up to Toni even more. Cheryl may act like a bitch, but deep down she cares and wishes there was something she could to do for Archie. I also loved how Veronica was standing by her man, no matter what. Archie was trying to push her away, but she wasn’t going anywhere.

There was a lot going on in this season three premiere. Alice (Mädchen Amick) is going a little crazy. She’s preaching the farm and how much it’s helping her, but she’s sounding a bit crazy. After everything that happened this episode, the writers chose to end it with Betty having a seizure! Is she okay? Has she been working her self too much? Does this have something to do with her mom and sister? Too many questions and too long to wait for answers.

All this and I haven’t even mentioned the introduction of the Gargoyle King. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said his inspiration for this season was True Detective and it’s clear from episode one that the HBO drama will be influencing this season.
