The final season of The Originals is sure to have a lot of twists and turns but I don’t think anyone saw [spoiler’s] death coming. Even when it was happening, I didn’t believe it was really happening.

Spoilers Below

I’ve been very worried about that fact that we haven’t seen much of Phoebe Tonkin this season. I was afraid she wasn’t going to be in this season very much. Then, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) finally found her. Found is probably the wrong word. Roman (Jedidiah Goodacre) just kidnapped Hope too. Even though Hayley was still in danger, I was relieved to have her back. I had no idea where this episode was heading. Turns out we got her back just to lose her again, and this time for good. Hayley sacrificed herself to save her daughter, in more than one way. First, she did the binding spell so Hope’s cloaking spell would be lifted and Freya (Riley Voelkel) would be able to find her. Then, she burns herself alive to kill their enemy. Granted, she was probably dead either way at that point. She was at a complete disadvantage as a vampire against a vampire with a daylight ring. I was first devastated that Hayley gave up her wolf side because that’s what she’s always known. Then she died fighting their enemy. If that wasn’t bad enough, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) hardly blinked an eye at her death. I know he has no memories of her, but it was heartbreaking to know how much he loved her and that now he feels absolutely nothing.

I really believed that Hayley and Elijah were the end game. They’ve been the biggest ship of the show since day one and now, there’s no way these two can ever end up together. I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that this ship will not be together. Maybe this was never Julie Plec’s plan. We’ll have to see what her plan is and how fans will react to this.

While Hayley and Elijah’s relationship was over for good, Caroline (Candice King) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) were giving us all the feels. If you’ve shipped this couple since The Vampire Diaries, then you were enjoying every moment these two were on screen. Caroline was once again giving Klaus advice about his daughter but the best part was when she was reminiscing about the bad boys and he said some of them probably had good intentions. I don’t think Kalus will ever let her go.

What’s next for The Originals? Their enemy is dead and so is Hayley. What does this mean for Hope? Only seven more episodes left, and the ending is very unclear.
