While Marvel is doing well with Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, and the DVD release of Logan, they just released the final trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Fans got their first look at the latest version of the Web-Slinger, played by Tom Holland, during Captain America: Civil War last year. In this movie, Peter Parker is getting used to his new identity as a super hero in training, being mentored by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Tony wants Peter to stay low-key, because the “grownups,” aka the Avengers, can handle the tough stuff.

Well, they’re not around when a guy named Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) decides to use “found” fancy technology, like stuff from the Chitauri from The Avengers. He decides to use it to rob the rich (Stark, especially) and keep the dough. He eventually becomes “The Vulture”, and a major thorn on Peter’s side.

Here’s the U.S. trailer…

Peter also has to deal with a pal who figures out what’s going on, a possible girlfriend (Zendaya), and trying to convince Stark he can be a real super hero. Too bad Stark can disable the suit, or even take it away. He’s always been a control freak, and it seems he’s being a helicopter parent.  Maybe he’s still feeling wounds after his break with Captain America, and is taking it out on Peter.

In any case, Spider-Man was a loner in the original comics, and it’s odd he’s been made a “subsidiary” of Stark Industries. Maybe Peter will insist he should go on his own at the end, and it’ll fit with the original canon.

This is the international trailer, which gives more info on what Toomes/Vulture has in mind. It also has clips from Civil War from Peter’s point of view.

By the way, the latest poster has been getting complaints from some fans because there’s too much Iron Man in it. They prefer this poster…

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens nationwide July 7th.
