The Board of Directors at Fandom Charities Inc. announced that they have rescheduled their premiere convention, Fandomopolis, from May of 2015 to May of 2016.

Rechristened “Whedonopolis 2016,” the event will be a celebration of the works of Joss Whedon and all Whedon-related alumnus. Actress Juliet Landau (Buffy, Angel) has confirmed she will remain as a Guest of Honor for the event. The rescheduled event will be held on May 13-15th, 2016, and remains at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, adjacent to the Van Nuys airport.

Con Co-Chair Tony Caballero explains, “We’re going back to basics and focusing on what we know best, and are best known for, and that’s our work in promoting the Whedonverse.”

Under the 501(c)(3) non-profit umbrella of its parent company, Fandom Charities, Inc., Whedonopolis has hosted fundraising events included the yearly Halloween screenings of the Internet sensation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and the recent Evening at Caritas, a memorial event for Angel cast member Andy Hallett. Over the past 6 years, Fandom Charities and Whedonopolis have raised more than $50,000 for such organizations as PATH Ventures, Kids Need to Read, Mr Holland’s Opus, Equality Now and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation.

“We’re known for our surprises,” added Con Co-Chair Marsia Powers, “and we hope this event will be no exception.”

This year, Whedonopolis will be hosting the Buffy Musical episode “Once More With Feeling” as the main closing event at San Diego Comic Con, and Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog for the closing event at WonderCon in Anaheim.
