Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can attack any part of the body (organs, joints, skin). Symptoms can be mild to life-threatening, last several weeks to several years and there is no cure. It is not contagious, but absolutely anyone can develop lupus, although it is more prevalent in adult women of color.

In 2011, Team Club Mo was formed to walk in the name of Maurissa Tancharoen-Whedon, who has the disease, and raised an unprecedented $80,000+ for the cause.

In 2014, Team Whedonopolis/Fandom Charities will participate in the walk to help raise funds to find a cure.
