Clare Kramer kindly granted Whedonopolis an interview after receiving the Visionary Award at the Pasadena International Film Festival.
Whedonopolis: Congratulations on your Visionary Award!
Clare Kramer: Thank you so much! This has been great!
Whedonopolis: So, how was it to be reunited with David Fury and James Marsters at the same time?
Clare Kramer: Well, it’s funny because Buffy, I always say, was the eternal gift. It gave me all my friends. I see David and James sporadically, but I haven’t seen them together in a long time, so it was great! I was super, super stoked to see both of them.
Whedonopolis: Your award is awesome, and I’m really happy you got it, and in deference to that, what have been your favorite roles, besides Glory, that you feel have been best for your career?
Clare Kramer: Oh, well, boy… Aside from Glory, Bring It On was definitely a cornerstone of my career. It was my first big feature and it was such an exciting time of my life – moving from east coast to west coast, and I met – as with Buffy, I met a lot of my friends on Bring It On and we’re still friends today. Other than Bring It On and Buffy, there have been a few roles, but none have been as highly publicized. There was a small film called Mummy an’ the Armadillo with Betty Buckley and Brad Renfro – rest in peace, Brad – which was amazing, a movie called The Thirst, directed by Jeremy Kasten, which was great, but definitely Buffy and Bring It On were the two cornerstones.
Whedonopolis: Agreed, and I love both Buffy and Bring It On. Again, congratulations on your award, and thank you so much for your time.
Clare Kramer: Absolutely. Thank you. And people should definitely check out Big Ass Spider, which is out now with Greg Grunberg from Heroes and Alias. Greg and I save the city of Los Angeles from a giant spider, so it’s very cool. It’s kind of like Ghostbusters with spiders.
Great little interview. Clare seems like such a sweetheart, so glad you got the opportunity to interview her. Sounds like you had a great time at PIFF. Wonderful job, Isis. Can’t wait to see more from you.
Love Clare Kramer. Hope to see more interviews from you, Isis.
