Two weeks was FAR too long a wait for a new episode of The Crazy Ones. However, I do hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of friends and family while we waited for the newest episode of our favorite show. The break was worth it with what aired last night, and I’m sure that seeing Victoria’s Secret Angel, Adriana Lima, guest starring didn’t hurt the ratings either. There were two main story lines in “Models Love Magic,” with one covering the ubiquitous Victoria’s Secret models doing their photo shoot with the $10 million Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra. The second story line revolved around Gordon trying desperately to get an ad campaign for two very straight-laced conservative gentlemen whose pie company is going national. (I almost wish they’d saved that plot for next week, as I’ve been taught that any Friday the 13th is Pie Day for many companies.)

One of my favorite moments dealing with the Victoria’s Secret plot line was a moment among Zach, Andrew, and Lauren as the models walked past them into the building. Zach said, “So beautiful,” and Andrew immediately replied with “So terrifying.” I think that accurately sums up how our intrepid cast behaved towards the models for the rest of the episode. Originally, Simon works with the models, and is his usual, goofy self, messing around with a pair of angel wings. It’s absolutely adorable. However, trouble brews when Lauren first sees the fantasy bra. It quickly catches her attention, as do the models who accompany it. Of course, the bra is being guarded by a security guard who warns everyone from coming near it, unless they’re him or Adriana’s bust. Anyone else will have a problem with him.

While this is going on, Gordon is pretending to be a very straight, old-fashioned male along with a straight-laced (more than usual) Sydney to get the aforementioned national ad campaign for the pie company. Everything is going according to plan until the two executives of the company decide that they’d very much like to meet Simon for lunch. Simon agrees to go, and Sydney is made to switch jobs with him, so that she is now in charge of the Victoria’s Secret photo shoot. It goes wrong, especially once Lauren has a moment of weakness alone while with the fantasy bra and it gets stuck after she puts it on. Zach and Andrew are having their own moments of crisis too, since Zach can’t get any of the models to acknowledge him while Andrew does a magic trick and immediately gains their attention. Zach’s desperation is palpable and it’s very funny to watch the guys realize that their luck with ladies has become the opposite of what it normally is. Once they discover Lauren’s perfidy, they join her in trying to stall the shoot and keep the models at Lewis, Roberts + Roberts while not telling Sydney what happened. Sydney does find out what happened, then joins in trying to keep the models at the agency, and does so by insulting Adriana about her literacy. In a moment of pure genius, she’s shown up by the models while they discuss Kafka’s The Metamorphosis in their book club.

Gordon and Simon’s lunch with the potential clients is going on at the same time, and Simon is having a hard time reigning in his crazy personality and trying to help Gordon’s other half get Gordon home for them to celebrate their anniversary. Eventually, he has enough and tells Gordon off. The moment culminates in the clients discovering that Gordon is gay and Simon’s kind of crazy, but they decide to keep the campaign with Lewis, Roberts + Roberts even though they don’t agree with the choices and personalities of the men behind the company. They just like the suggestion for their ad campaign the best out of all the pitches they’ve seen. It was a great moment that acknowledged that as long as a mutual goal is met, personal choices really don’t matter to anyone other than the person making the choices.

Back at the office, Sydney finally tells the models off and gets the photo shoot going once again after Zach and Andrew help Lauren get the fantasy bra off. It’s always good to see Sydney in control, and I hope that we see that strength of personality and character in the upcoming episodes of The Crazy Ones.

My favorite moments of the episode included Sydney discovering that the models weren’t as vapid and uninformed as she thought, Lauren’s crisis with the fantasy bra, and Simon berating Gordon about being himself and not pretending to be someone else in order to get a contract. It was very poignant and suited the episode perfectly. What were your favorite moments in the episode? Did you like seeing Zach and Andrew “switch” personalities and abilities with women? Let us know in the comments.
