Next weekend’s Wondercon in Anaheim could become a very hot ticket this year, because the cast of a long-awaited movie will gather on Easter Sunday (Hint: It’s not Iron Man 3).
It’s been known for a while that Wondercon would feature a panel on Joss Whedon’s modern take of the classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing. At least, it was expected he would be there, and maybe a few cast members.
This Friday afternoon the panel turned into what could be the most popular event since Firefly celebrated its tenth anniversary at last year’s Comic-Con.
Whedon will be part of the Sunday, March 31st, panel at 11am and he’ll be joined by most of the cast and crew, including Fran Kranz, Clark Gregg, Nathan Fillion, Jillian Morgese, Riki Lindhome, Tom Lenk, Romy Rosemont, Brian McElhaney, Ashley Johnson, Jay Hunter, Nick Kocher and Spencer Treat Clark. No word yet on whether Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof (as Beatrice and Benedick) will also be there.
The panel was originally scheduled to be inside the main convention center, now it’s been moved to the Arena next door. That facility is serving as the “Hall H” of Wondercon and is hosting several other major panels. It is expected to seat about 4000 fans. The arena is also the site for the annual interactive screening of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, which will be shown at 3 PM. The musical is also celebrating its fifth anniversary this summer.
