The Six Degrees Interview Special Job Assignment: Michael Winnick of Shadows and Illusions

There’s a new horror thriller film called “Shadow Puppets,” starring James Marsters (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”), Tony Todd (“Candyman”) and Jolene Blalock (“Star Trek: Enterprise”), that’s created a lot of buzz in the industry, thanks, in part, to sci-fi and horror fan support. This support is so strong, it got the film a weeklong theatrical engagement in L.A., starting next Friday 6/22. We caught up with writer and director, Michael Winnick, to tell us what it’s all about, how it all started and why fandom generally rules.

The Job Pt. 2 – This Month’s Victim: Vladimir Kulich (The Beast on "Angel")

Welcome to part two of our amazing interview with Vladimir Kulich. Since he had so much to say, it would have been a disservice to him to eliminate any of it, for the purpose of “The Job” is to get to know our interviewees better. It’s not often that we’re afforded the luxury of a long interview, as in this case, and we truly appreciate it. Again, we have separated the remainder of the interview into sections, and we reiterate our warning about the use of colorful adult language. Thank you.

Here’s the first part of what he told us, as he spoke at length. Be advised that the interview contains colorful adult language. Thank you.

First, the Six Degrees:

* The character “Cesare” in “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” was played by Doug Jones.

* Doug Jones played the Lead Gentleman on the “Buffy” silent episode, “Hush.”

Yesterday was the release date of the DVD for the “remix” of “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari,” out of the mind of director David Lee Fisher, with Daamen Krall playing the title role of Dr. Caligari. We caught up with them to see how they went about the process of shooting a new version of the classic silent film, a prime example of German expressionism. Here’s what they told us.
