Angel #44 Review: IDW Gives Our Vamp A Half-Hearted Wave Goodbye

With issue #44, IDW’s Angel series comes to a close. IDW has taken the vampire with a soul through a multitude of adventures during their time with him, some good and some less than good. While the final issue of Angel is not exactly the pulse-pounding ending the series deserves (and some of that can be blamed on Dark Horse’s snatching of the license), they do manage to deliver something the tortured lead character is not necessarily used to: a sense of hope.

Lionsgate Buys A Cabin In The Woods

After years of waiting, mainly due to financial problems at MGM and a planned conversion to 3-D, Cabin in the Woods has a distributor.

Deadline Hollywood says Lionsgate will distribute the film, which is co-written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard, and directed by Goddard. Fans have heard about this horror movie ever since Comic-Con two years ago. It was supposed to be released in October 2009, but was delayed because of a planned conversion to 3-D. The released was pushed back twice to February of 2010 and last January, mainly due to financial problems with MGM.

In the end, this may benefit the film. It features Chris Hemsworth, who will be starring in Thor next week. If that movie is a hit, it’s bound to benefit Cabin. The film also features Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. No release date has been set, but October may be a possibility.

Congrats to Ben Edlund & The Cast and Crew of Supernatural

The CW gave early pickup to five of their established series including (and most important to this site) Supernatural.  This will be Supernatural’s seventh season and as it’s ending a strong year with a two-part cliffhanger, this is very good news indeed. Moving Supernatural to Fridays worried its fans (and this writer) that it was being moved to the Friday of Death (Firefly, Dollhouse, Drive, Wonderfalls, Sarah Connor Chronicles – I need to stop before my tears fry my netbook).
