Creation Entertanment’s Salute to Supernatural LA 2008

Ah, conventions. There are few experiences quite like going to a good convention, whether it’s a general convention such as Comic-Con or a specific convention, like this weekend’s Creation Entertainment’s Salute to Supernatural. Now Supernatural is my favorite show on television right now (and one of my favorites ever), so I was very excited to attend this event, which was my first Supernatural convention, as well. Here’s a run-down of my experiences over the past weekend:

Cut! 2008: Slither Panel Coverage

Being a journalist and covering what you’re passionate about is just awesome! Today was a perfect example of that awesomeness becoming reality, because on the way down to the Supernatural convention near LAX (coverage of which will be up shortly), our fearless leader gave us a call and asked us if we could cover the Slither panel at the Cut! 2008 film appreciation weekend. Having reported the event in our News Bytes, I knew Nathan Fillion, James Gunn and Gregg Henry would be there, so after arranging for someone else to cover the parts of the Supernatural con that we’d miss, we said we’d take it.

WonderCon 2008: Sunday

And on Sunday, WC came to a close…I woke up with a slight hangover Sunday morning, not remembering much after we settled in to watch Shoot ‘Em Up around 12:30 AM. WonderCon 2008: Saturday

After waking up and having breakfast at Denny’s (where the entire discussion focused on World of Warcraft), Dwight and I headed over to the Moscone Center, where he split off to go to the Browncoat table and I waited in a VERY long line of people to get into the con. While in line we hung out with a couple of good friends, Richard and "Dr. No," as he likes to call himself. After having a lengthy discussion about the awesomeness that is Batman, we were finally allowed into the hall.

WonderCon 2008: Friday

I love conventions. The excitement of being around geeky friends, the thrill of seeing celebrities and panels, the smell of new products in the dealer rooms. It was with all of this excitement that I and three other friends made the journey from Los Angeles to San Fransisco this past weekend to attend WonderCon.
