It’s been talked about for months, and now it begins.
Juliet Landau has officially started the Indiegogo campaign for her documentary A Place Among The Undead this morning. The documentary takes a look at vampires in popular culture, from Dracula to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and beyond. A Place Among The Undead is a “first of its kind” in many ways. It gathers the Who’s Who of the genre, never seen before together in one film. It provides a rare perspective… an insiders’ view into the vampire phenomenon.
The list of people interviewed is very impressive; from Gary Oldman (Dracula), Tim Burton (Dark Shadows, Ed Wood), Willem Dafoe (Shadow of the Vampire), Anne Rice (Interview With the Vampire) and Caroline Munro (Dracula 1972 AD) to David Greenwalt (Angel), Charlaine Harris (True Blood) and Joss Whedon.
Juliet and her husband Dev Weekes started by self-funding the project, which has grown beyond all expectations. The goal is to raise $300 thousand dollars in 30 days. Some of the perks that are available for backers include movie posters (some signed by George Jeanty and Juliet herself), t-shirts, a personalized voicemail mp3, a stake/steak dinner with Juliet, a special book with photos from Oldman and Deverill Weekes, a signed prop, and much more.
