Lust for Love is the baby of writer/director Anton King and is about a guy (Fran Kranz) who finally wins the love of his childhood sweetheart, but because he’s waited for her his entire life, he acts kinda lame and gets quickly dumped. He decides the solution is to get more experience with women, so he convinces his sweetheart’s friend (Dichen Lachman) to teach him how to woo women.
Other Dollhouse folk are also slated to be in the cast including Maurissa Tancharoen-Whedon, Enver Gjokaj and Felicia Day, subject to availability.
As of press time, they’ve received over $48K in pledges, but they still need your help. The catch of Kickstarter is that if the project does not reach its stated goal, they get no money (i.e. your credit card does not get charged). They need to reach $70K in the next 23 days or the project will go bye-bye. Here’s the link to the page with a cute video featuring Fran talking about the project.
The minimum pledge is just $1, and you can go as high as $10,000 and you get rewards too! Give a buck and your name goes on the website. Give $25 and you get a pre-release signed DVD. Give $10,000 and basically Anton and crew will move into your house and be your BFFs and servants for a year. OK, maybe that last one is not entirely accurate, but the reward does include screen and IMDb credits, a private screening, tickets to all the screenings, and a bunch of other stuff. There are also levels where you can get Skype chats, meet and greets, private meetings and dinner parties in LA or Melbourne (one where Dichen will cook!). Alas, the speaking role in the film has already been pledged.
They are also looking for anyone that has a bar, restaurant or cafe in Los Angeles that they can use for a day’s shoot. This is grassroots filmmaking, baby!
