Alan Tudyk’s web comedy, Con Man, is headed into its final days of its Indiegogo campaign. After hitting its original goal of 425 thousand dollars in less than a day, it’s also starting to attract some familiar faces from sci-fi shows.

For those who were taken along with the sky, here’s the premise:

Alan Tudyk 2The comedy, written and directed by Tudyk, is about Wray Nerely, who portrayed the pilot in Spectrum, a sci-fi show that lasted less than a season, but is still very popular. Sound familiar?
Nathan Fillion, who is also producing, is Jack Moore, the only actor from the show who’s made it big. Meanwhile, Nerely tries to maintain his fame through sci-fi conventions and celebrity events.

The project’s first video included Gina Torres, Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, Seth Green and James Gunn being asked to be part of his show. Since Tricia Helferthen, Sean Maher and Amy Acker have been added to the cast.

Now, it has added Tricia Helfer and Michael Trucco from Battlestar Galactica, Emily Kinney from Walking Dead, Robert Patrick from Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Mindy Sterling from Austin Powers, Samantha Smith from Supernatural and Nolan North from the Uncharted series.

Robert PatrickThese are good choices because some of the actors are best known for one role, but have appeared in other shows and movies since. Robert Patrick is best known as the T-1000 in the second Terminator movie, but he’s currently on CBS’ Scorpion. Helfer got the attention of sci-fi fans as Number Six in Galactica, but she has been a familiar face in TV shows, most recently the SyFy mini-series Ascension. They may have a lot to talk about with Wray on how their careers have advanced after being in an iconic role, then see them head to a different direction.

Also, is it safe to say that Gunn’s career is almost like Moore’s? After making a small horror movie called Slither many years ago, he’s now recognized as the guy who directed the mega-hit Guardians of the Galaxy.

As of 9 AM March 31st,  the project has raised nearly $2,469,000, or five times the original goal. It’s enough for 12 episodes, including an episode of Spectrum. If the total reaches two and a half million, backers will get an e-book based on Spectrum.

There’s still plenty of rewards for backers, including signed posters, DVDs, t-shirts, and even props. For more info, check out www.igg.me/at/conman.
