Earlier today (Nov. 18), Whedonopolis got the pleasure of talking to Harry Groener (Mayor Wilkins from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) about his part in Diani & Devine Meet the Apocalypse (DDMTA).

Harry says he met Gabe (Diani of Diani & Devine) through The Antaeus Company, a theater company in North Hollywood, and also appeared in Diani & Devine’s other film The Selling. He says his character in DDMTA isn’t the cause of the apocalypse and won’t be eating any giant spiders, but that he shows up to a bar which is “not what it seems to be” and that he can’t divulge more without spoiling it.

Harry also told us about how much fun it was to shoot the video he and Armin Shimerman (Principal Snyder, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) made to promote the DDMTA Kickstarter campaign. It’s funny, you should watch it! And you should contribute to the campaign. One of the prizes is getting to chat with Harry (or Armin). As Whedonopolis has gotten to talk to both of them, you can take it on authority it’s a fantastic prize.

Because we asked Armin Shimerman yesterday, we asked which superhero Harry would be, and he chose Nightcrawler from the X-Men. Though he did mention that he is also a history buff, and thought the Doctor (Doctor Who) would be a good choice, too.

Moloch (the demon in “I Robot… You Jane,” Buffy the Vampire Slayer) disconnected our call and destroyed the recording (that’s what happens when you run out of sacrificial goats!), so we can’t post the first half of our conversation. But Moloch didn’t get to the second half, where Harry told us about shooting the “Graduation Day” episode of Buffy and how he nearly played Principal Flutie! You can listen to it yourself below.
