It was expected to be the reunion of one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s classic couples. Sadly, that won’t happen.
In tweets posted by executive producer David Fury on Thursday, it was announced that Juliet Landau will not star with James Marsters in The Bells of West 87th.
It’s with great regret that I announce our friend Juliet Landau has been forced to bow out of #BellsOfWest87th due 2 other obligations.:-(

Landau later posted on her Facebook page:
Landau was set to play Molly Fein, a building manager and aspiring poet who has problems dealing with her colorful family. Molly lives with her mom, while her dad (who considers himself the next great magician) lives next door after separating from his wife. Mrs. Fein installed bells around his apartment to know exactly what he’s doing. Molly makes a friend in Chris, played by Marsters, and soon decides to invite him to dinner with her family. What follows is an interesting night that forces the family to face a few facts, but also provides some hope for Molly.
Whedonopolis hopes to learn more about Landau’s future projects soon. Meanwhile, tickets for this weekend’s performances of Bells of West 87th have sold out, but are still available for future dates. The play will be performed at the Greenway Court Theatre (544 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, CA) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now through October 13.
