Who is Ryan Kiera Armstrong?
Some may say she’s a member of a Skeleton Crew, others say she’s a threat thanks to setting fires with her mind.
According to a certain Buffy Anne Summers, though, she is the first Chosen One to be picked by another Chosen One.
Thanks to YouTube for this moment where Sarah Michelle Gellar gives the news to Ryan. It’s a pretty interesting choice because both ladies are from New York City and have had a healthy TV career.
According to this IMDB file, which includes her sizzle reel, Ryan’s had a varied career although she’s only 15. Disney Plus fans already know her as Fern in Star Wars Skeleton Crew.
She’s also been a very scary child prodigy who gets her powers from mysterious drugs in American Horror Story Double Feature four years ago.
In 2022, she starred in the remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter, shown in theaters and Peacock. It was panned by fans, and she even got nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress. That was cancelled because of her age.
Now, it’s different. She is the Slayer’s Slayer, a personally Chosen One.
One girl in all the world with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, blah-blah-blah, we’ve heard it
all before.
Only it’s different since more than one Chosen One is allowed. How will the next Slayer make her mark?
Will Buffy try a little too hard to make sure the new one is just like her and is NOT Faith (too much)?
Could Buffy talk about her career, which will include awkward pauses about certain issues (the new gal is 15}?
Will the new one have a family, and how much should they know about this?
Hopefully, the learning process will end with the New Chosen One to take the best of all Slayers she might encounter, and establish a new philosophy for the job.
Of course, a script has to be written first, but that could be an idea.
Next comes the casting for her Scooby Gang, the assorted Big Bads, and everything in between. It’s certain to be the top subject of discussion when the HellmouthCon starts next month in Torrance. It’ll be interesting how fans ask Juliet Landau and James Marsters think of the choice.
Maybe Principal Snyder will be immediately suspicious of her. If so, it proves he saw that season of American Horror Story.
