After two intense episodes, we wrapped up the season rather quietly but powerfully. Until the shocking ending, of course.

We’ve watched Hiram (Mark Consuelos) all year not exactly sure what he was planning, and we finally have the answer. He was taking over the town. He took over the South Side to push the Serpents out, and now he controls everything. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) was in way over his head when he went head to head against Hiram. Now that Veronica (Camile Mendes) is playing on his side, he might have a fighting chance. And after what Hiram did to Archie (K.J. Apa), she’ll be all in. 

As shocked as I was when Archie was arrested for a murder he didn’t commit, it should come as no surprise after he threatened Hiram. If you want to take someone down, you should never tell them first. The town won’t take lightly to Archie being arrested, especially the Serpents. Archie stood by them when they were at their lowest and Jug is now the leader. The Serpents will certainly do everything they can to save him.

This episode was great because the characters were coming together for the right thing. I loved when Archie had everyone wear Serpent jackets to keep them at their school. That was a great heartfelt moment but the best scene of someone doing something right was Veronica. She stood up to her father. She’s danced around this in the past but this time she stood tall. She’s giving up any money or entitlements to do the right thing. She always had it in her but she hadn’t committed yet. It will be interesting to see this new Veronica next season. I think the next step will be her getting out of her house.

Last week Betty (Lili Reinhart) found out her father was the Black Hood. She suspected but finding out is different. She wasn’t handling it very well until she said her final words to her father. Betty may believe she has darkness in her but like Archie, she has a huge heart and does anything for the people she loves. 

I wasn’t too thrilled with some of the beginning of season two. I kept getting annoyed with Jug and Veronica. What I realize now is that the writers were leading up to this. Jug becoming King of the Serpents and a great leader, and Veronica standing up to her father. It was a character building season and we just had to be patient with the characters we love. Veronica and Jug are my favorites, so I was frustrated, but now I love them even more.
