cruel-intentions aMost of us know Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she also had another famous role in a teen version of Dangerous Liasions, Cruel Intentions.

Now NBC has announced Sarah will be back as Kathryn Merteuil in a TV version of the 1999 movie. She confirmed it on Instagram earlier today. For those not familiar, she plays a girl in a very exclusive school who makes a bet with her half-brother (Ryan Philippe) on whether he can seduce an innocent girl named Annette, played by Reese Witherspoon. The terms of this bet involve Kathryn’s famous line “You can put it anywhere.” There’s also a kissing scene between Kathryn and Ceceile (Selma Blair) that many people may also remember.

The new version takes place 15 years later, and Kathryn is married and in the middle of another battle. According to Deadline, she’s trying to get control of her family’s company and her nephew, Bash Casey. Apparently he finds his father’s journal, and finds himself in a new set of “cruel intentions.” Does this mean she’ll have to steer him away from temptations while being cold and calcuating in business? That may be trickier than battling vampires.

The announcement may convince people to look back at this movie, and how Gossip Girl has nothing on it. They may also be surprised to learn Amy Adams was in a direct-to-video prequel as a younger Kathryn.

We’ll keep you posted.
