Entertainment Weekly is ready to keep people informed about what’s happening at San Diego Comic-Con next week, whether they’ll be there or not. It will host three panels, provide multi-media coverage and wind up the weekend with a big party at the Hard Rock Hotel
EW will team up with Entertainment Tonight to provide daily coverage on Sirius XM’s Entertainment Weekly channel 105. They’ll be broadcasting live from the EW Photo and Digital Studio at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego. Celebrities and actors from some of the most-anticipated movies and TV shows in 2013 are likely to be interviewed.
Attendees will get a free issue of the special EW Comic-Con issue, which will also be sold at newsstands starting July 12th.
The magazine will host three panels featuring directors and actors. The first is called “The Visionaries”, which features an impressive panel of directors. Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, 500 Days of Summer), Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) and Edgar Wright (The World’s End, Shaun of the Dead) will talk about filmmaking and the future of the business. It will be held July 18th at 2:30 at Hall H.
Also on the 18th, fans will meet “Brave New Warriors”. This session includes Matt Smith from Doctor Who, David Guintoli from Grimm, Stephen Yeun from The Walking Dead and Tyler Posey from MTV’s Teen Wolf. They’ll talk about how they got into the business, what it’s like to play some iconic characters, and reveal some behind-the-scenes details. It’s also likely Smith will talk about his final episode in December. This panel will be at Ballroom 20 at 4:45.
On the 20th, it’s the ladies’ turn. “Women Who Kick Ass” looks at the sexy and strong characters see in the movies and on TV. It will include Michelle Rodriguez from the fast and Furious franchise, Maggie Q from Nikita, Katie Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica and Longmire, Danai Gurira from The Walking Dead, and Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black. This panel will be at Hall H at 2:55 PM.
For those who can’t make it, don’t worry. EW will have live streaming video from San Diego. This is sponsored by Hyundai. The site’s Comic-Con page still has video highlights from last year.
Finally, on the 20th, EW will have its annual Comic-Con party at the Hard Rock Hotel, where the biggest stars are likely to stop by and wrap up the con.
