TV-GWeeklyMarvel Television’s Wonder Man | Official Trailer
https://sixdegreesofgeek.com/2026/01/02/marvel-televisions-wonder-man-official-trailer/
https://sixdegreesofgeek.com/2026/01/02/marvel-televisions-wonder-man-official-trailer/#respondFri, 02 Jan 2026 17:08:42 +0000https://sixdegreesofgeek.com/?p=59573In Wonder Man, actior Simon Williams is auditioning for the role of a lifetime, only to discover that he actually does have superpowers.
]]>In the new trailer for the new Marvel Television series Wonder Man, an actor named Simon Williams is trying for the role of a lifetime. Unfortunately he discovers that he actually does have superpowers, and that’s a huge problem.
That’s Simon Williams, an ambitious actor who is being closely watched by the Department of Damage Control. They have no idea what he’s capable of, and as it turns out, neither does he.
The official series synopsis reads: “In Wonder Man, aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film Wonder Man.
“These two actors, at opposite ends of their careers, doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.”
Simon goes to Trevor Slattery (played by Ben Kingsley, the same actor who pretended to be the Mandarin in Iron Man 3). Slattery works with Williams to coach him and help him along with his career, using whatever influence he has left, but that’s not the whole story. He’s also sharing information on Williams to Agent Cleary and the Department of Damage Control.
We don’t get to see everything Simon Williams can do, but we do get the reveal that he’s got superstrength, and at least some level of durability or he’d break his body parts when he tried to use it. In the comics, Wonder Man has flight, superhuman speed, strength and durability, plus enhanced senses, the ability to create energy constructs similar to a Green Lantern, force fields, the ability to change his size at will, teleportation and limited shape-shifting. This would make him one of the most formidable characters in the entire Marvel Universe, comparable to Thor, Thanos, Red Hulk and She-Hulk, and the Sentry.
How this eager young actor copes with all of this and how he gets his powers in the first place is going to be an interesting tale. Exactly how powerful they make Wonder Man in this series is another question. Nearly omnipotent characters are really hard to write for, and Marvel usually errs on the side of caution when confronted with this problem.
The cast is led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams and Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery. They’re joined by Arian Moayed, X Mayo, Zlatko Buri?, Olivia Thirlby, and Byron Bowers.
All eight episodes of Wonder Man will be dropped at once on Disney+. This didn’t work all that well with the Hawkeye spinoff series Echo, but that may have been more because that character was third tier than because of the release strategy.
The series is written by Andrew Guest, Paul Welsh & Madeline Walter, Zeke Nicholson, Anayat Fakhraie, Roja Gashtili & Julia Lerman, and Kira Talise. Directing duties are split between Destin Daniel Cretton, James Ponsoldt, Tiffany Johnson, and Stella Meghie.
Wonder Man makes its premiere on Disney+ on January 26, 2026.

]]>It’s so nice when a comic book publisher supports their staff as they pursue new business opportunities. Yesterday IDW Publishing and Chris Ryall jointly announced that Ryall is stepping down as President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer. Ryall will continue as an Executive Producer on the Netflix series, “Locke & Key,”and remain the sole editor on any Locke & Key publishing ventures going forward.
In partnership with Ashley Wood and many of the talented creators he has worked with at IDW, Ryall is launching a new storytelling venture focused on the disparate worlds and characters that he brought to life at IDW Publishing.
Whedonopolis’ first interview was with Chris Ryall, Brian Lynch, and Scott Tipton during San Diego Comic-Con 2006
Industry veterans Jerry Bennington will be the company’s new President, and Jud Meyers will be new Publisher. Rebekah Cahalin has been promoted to General Manager and EVP of Operations, covering both IDW Publishing and IDW Entertainment.
Ryall was one of the rare executives who not only produced comic books in his various capacities with the company, but also authored assorted projects, such as Zombies vs Robots, with artist Ashley Wood, in development at Sony Pictures. Perhaps the biggest mark he left on IDW was that of Chief Creative Officer, partnering across divisions to ensure that creators and stories were well cared for as they transitioned to entertainment.
“After the wonderful experience this past year serving as an Executive Producer on ‘Locke & Key’ and working with the amazingly creative team that brought the show to life, I look forward to bringing exciting new stories into the world through many different storytelling forms,” Ryall added. “I’m thrilled to be back working alongside Ashley Wood, as well as other creators to come, in developing interesting projects for our World of Syzygy venture.”
“Change is often hard, and I will miss this extended family I have worked with for more than 15 years,” said Ryall. “In the past year alone, we brought on some amazing hires, expanded the scope of many of the departments, and re-focused the foundation of the business to best support the integrated multi-media company that IDW has become. Our collective success with the entertainment team on ‘Locke & Key’ has been a crowning moment for the entire company. I’m so proud of this special place and the incredible people who work here. I know that I leave IDW perfectly poised for continued success.”
Howard Jonas, IDW’s Chairman, said, “Chris has been instrumental in IDW Publishing’s success, and we thank him for the passion and commitment he brought to the company. We wish him all the best in his new ventures. With Chris’s departure, IDW will be restructuring and expanding its operations, and we will name a new management team very soon.”

The social network has struck a deal with 20th Century Fox to license all seasons of Joss Whedon-created dramas Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly in the U.S. Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar announced the news on her Facebook page on Friday.
The licensing pact comes amid Facebook’s rollout of a new social viewing experience it is calling Watch Party, which gives users the ability to watch a show together with a friend even when they aren’t in the same place. Earlier this week, Facebook made Watch Party available to all profiles and pages.
“Our focus with Facebook Watch is on content and experiences that help people connect, ignite conversation and build community,” Facebook vp video Fidji Simo wrote in a blog post. “We think there is a range of content that can do this, and are excited to bring iconic pop culture favorites like these series for their avid fan communities to experience them in new ways, and for new fans to discover these awesome ’90s classics.”
Buffy premiered in 1997 on The WB and developed a devoted fan base over its seven seasons. A spinoff starring David Boreanaz’s character, Angel, debuted in 1999. Firefly was Whedon’s non-Buffy follow-up, and although the Nathan Fillion vehicle only lasted one season, it has attracted a cult following. All three shows also are available to stream on Hulu.
Until this deal, traditional TV licensing had not been a factor in Facebook’s video strategy. Even without bulking up on library fare, the company’s Watch video platform features an array of shortform series from its partners. Meanwhile, it has also begun to pick up a handful of premium scripted and unscripted shows like Queen America starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith.
Facebook has organized Watch Parties for each of the shows in the coming days.

About The Contests: Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, “Battlefield Earth,” written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future Contest (www.writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writing Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was created in 1988.
The intensive mentoring process has proven very successful. The 392 past winners of the Writing Contest have published 1,150 novels and 4,450 short stories. The contests have produced 32 New York Times bestsellers. Collectively, the winners of the contests have sold over 53 million books over the years. The 322 past winners of the Illustrating Contest have produced over 4,500 illustrations, 356 comic books, graced 594 books and albums with their art and visually contributed to 36 television shows and 46 major movies.
The Writers of the Future Award is the genre’s most prestigious award of its kind and has now become the largest, most successful and demonstrably most influential vehicle for budding creative talent in the world of contemporary fiction. Since its inception, the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests have produced 34 anthology volumes and awarded upwards of $1 million in cash prizes and royalties. Buffyverse alumnus artist Georges Jeanty (Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) also returns to lend his illustrative skills to the next installment.
Following the world-altering finale of Season 11, Buffy and the Scoobies have had a laid-back year in the saving-the-world department. But as they’ve learned over their years of fighting the forces of darkness and thwarting many an apocalypse, nothing stays quiet for long. When Dawn and Xander’s housewarming party is crashed by some familiar faces with news of an amassing force that must be reckoned with—Wolfram & Hart, a legion of demons, and Harth, a vampire from the future—Buffy finds herself in a time warp that could alter the fate of the world and could spell the end for Buffy, her friends, and the Slayers, forever.
This action-packed miniseries reunites the Buffyverse with the return of Angel, Faith, Illyria, and Fray, the Slayer from the future!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 12: The Reckoning #1 (of four) goes on sale June 20, 2018, and boasts three beautiful variant covers by Stephanie Hans, Georges Jeanty with Karl Story and Dan Jackson, and Karl Moline. The first issue will be available for preorder at your local comic shop in March.

Japan, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment present Batman Ninja. The all-new, feature-length animated film arrives on Digital starting April 24, 2018, and Blu-ray™ Steelbook, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD on May 8, 2018. The film will be available in 4K UHD for Digital only in a release planned for Summer 2018.
Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan – along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies – including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family – to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.
The visually stunning Batman Ninja is the creative result of a trio of anime’s finest filmmakers: director Jumpei Mizusaki (Opening animation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) produced the original movie with Warner Bros. Japan. The script was then reinterpreted and rewritten for English-language distribution by award-winning screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia (Supah Ninjas, Afro Samurai). Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers.
Roger Craig Smith (Batman: Arkham Origins) and Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) lead an impressive cast as the voices of Batman and the Joker, respectively. Grey Griffin (Scooby-Doo franchise) and Tara Strong (Batman: The Killing Joke) supply the voices of the antagonist & protagonist’s closest allies – Catwoman and Harley Quinn, respectively – while Fred Tatasciore (Family Guy) provides the gruff-yet-sophisticated tones of Gorilla Grodd, a villain who must team with Batman to achieve his own personal agenda. Other voice actors include Bat-family members Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10: Omniverse) as Robin, Adam Croasdell (Reign) as Nightwing and Alfred, and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as Red Robin, and the Rogue’s gallery also features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Penguin and Eric Bauza (The Adventures of Puss in Boots) as Two-Face. Doing double duty is Tatasciore as Deathstroke, Strong as Poison Ivy, and Friedle as Red Hood.
“Batman Ninja is an absolute feast for the senses, a stunning spectacle of anime wrapped around a thrill ride of a Batman story,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “Our partners at Warner Bros. Japan have conjured an impressive addition to the Dark Knight’s canon of entertainment, taking Batman and his friends and foes in an altogether new direction. We can’t wait for fans to see this film.”
